The Salem Reporter will host a Town Hall at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, to provide the community information about the city’s proposed tax levy.
The Salem City Council is placing before voters a levy to increase property taxes to pay for certain city services. Ballots go out to voters in late April and election day is May 20.
This free and independent forum is designed to provide factual information about the levy.
“This Town Hall will give voters a chance to directly get details about the levy – what it would cost and what it would pay for,” said Les Zaitz, Salem Reporter editor. “This is an important vote for the community and providing clear information is the goal.”
Panelists scheduled to appear include:
*Dr. Irvin Brown, Salem city councilor.
*Josh Eggelston, the city’s chief finance officer.
*Tom Hoffert, chief executive officer, Salem Area Chamber of Commerce.
The event will be held at the Elsinore Theatre, 170 High St. S.E., and free tickets for admission are available online.
Capital Community Media will broadcast the event live on Channel 21 and the replay the event in the following days.
